Josh Lepley Dismissed From Northern Arizona

This news is a little old, but still noteworthy.

Northern Arizona's reserve forward Josh Lepley was dismissed from the team. From AZ Daily Sun:

"He's been dismissed for actions and behaviors that are not conducive to what our program is about," Adras said. "I wish him good luck, but he's not going to be a part of this (program) anymore."
Last season he averaged 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in about 7 minutes, but it seems like he could have played a bigger role in the upcoming season.

At 6'10'', he was the tallest player to get any real minutes last season. His 19.2 DR% was second highest on the team, and easily the highest of any returnee. In addition, with 5 graduating seniors, he would have had a chance to earn solid minutes as a senior. I'm sure they will adjust just fine, but he would have been a solid rotation player.

Now, let's just hope he can get his head and straight and use this to become a better person.

  1. The young man took the high road and didn't comment on the garbage that was published. There are always two sides to a story.

The other returning big man, A.Smith, quit the team so there is definitely something wrong there. To bad the NCAA can't investigate. It's a horrible program and most are miserable.

  2. ??? Can you elaborate, Anonymous? Austin Smith is still listed on their roster as of tonight (9-19). I don't doubt there is another side to Josh Lepley's story. There always is. As a fan, I liked what he brought to the court and wish him well. But a coach making a call is like the boss making a call...the buck stops with them. "Horrible program" and "most are miserable" are pretty strong statements. - MTJack

  3. Yeah I also have not heard anything about Smith having quit the team...

  4. My guess is "Anonymous" is the same person who goes out of their way to post negative comments about Coach Adras and NAU hoops on the azcentral.com (Phoenix newspaper) website. Just a hunch. As the trendy kids say, "haters gonna hate".

  5. Sometimes the wronged, or student athletes, need to sit back and see how a situation plays out. I'm not a hater and have never posted a negative comment. I was simply stating that there were two sides to the story, one of which wasn't told.

Please check out the NAU website for the article indicating that Coach Adras "resigned" to pursue other opportunities. Hmmm...in the middle of the season? There's definitely more to this story, but I do believe a few former players may have been vindicated.

Love to the NAU Administration for accepting the "resignation".

  6. Do you have any details on the "other side" of the story?

  7. Mr. Adras has been asked to leave to "pursue other opportunities".

He's been dismissed for actions and behaviors that are not conducive to what our program is about," NAU should've said. "I wish him good luck, but he's not going to be a part of this (program) anymore."

When you don't tell the truth...you're words often come back to bite you. It's called karma.
