Quick Saturday Night Thoughts

Some quick predictions and a quick look at what the Saturday games mean! Once again, every game carries huge importance.

Montana at Montana State
What it means: Montana needs to win out to avoid the potential of a tiebreaker with Weber State. MSU got a little breathing room after beating Southern Utah on Thursday, but a win would come close to making them a lock with two home games next week.
Who wins: Montana will be without two of their big three, but they showed enough at the end of the Davidson game to make me think they win this. Wayne Tinkle will find a way to get it done.

Weber State at Northern Arizona
What it means: Weber State has to win out to have a chance at the top seed. NAU knows a win would make things a lot easier next week.
Who wins: As Weber State showed on Thursday, they just have too much talent for most teams in the Big Sky. That will be true in this game as well. NAU doesn’t have the firepower to win it.

North Dakota at Eastern Washington
What it means: A North Dakota win would basically clinch the 3 seed for UND. EWU needs to win keep any slim chances of postseason basketball alive.
Who wins: UND has two straight road wins in a row, and I think they can make it three. They are playing good basketball. EWU doesn’t look to have an answer for Troy Huff.

Northern Colorado at Portland State
What it means: Northern Colorado knows a win would put them in a “win and you’re in for sure” scenario next week at home against Southern Utah. PSU is playing for pride.
Who wins: I like the way UNC responded on the road against Eastern Washington, and I think they can do it again. They dominated the game in Greeley, and while PSU is a much better team at home, I think UNC can sweep the season series.

Idaho State at Sacramento State
What it means: ISU is playing for pride. It’s a must-win game for Sac State, because they’ll be on the road twice next week. A loss would drop them to 7-11.
Who wins: The Hornets have too much at stake in this game. The Bengals are always pesky, but Sac State knows this is a must win game. They win a low scoring battle.

  1. Great write-up you nailed every game correctly. The lose by NAU could be one they think about for a while. Keep up the good work - Go Sioux
